Windows Vs. Mac OS - How to Compare the Two

Compared to the computers that were selling only a few years ago, whether you use a Windows or Mac OS, you have a much more powerful and faster computer today. When choosing the best operating system for your needs, it's a good idea to look over what each has to offer. You need some information on whether Windows or Mac operating system will be best for you, so we are giving you the following comparison.

Compatibility issues are one of the main reasons that people typically choose Windows over Mac. Since Windows is more widely used, many software applications are made for Windows.

Even if there's a Mac version, it may work differently and may not always be compatible. But with modern Mac computers, running Windows is easy if you use Bootcamp. This means that any Mac computer with a recent release date can run Windows. Unfortunately the inverse is not now and probably won't ever be possible. In the past, if you wanted to run Windows on a Mac, you had to rely on slow and unreliable programs like Virtual PC, but that's no longer the case. Today it's more than possible, it's easy to read files and play games that are only meant to work with Windows systems on your Mac computers. Mac computers come with a wide variety of useful software programs installed. iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie and iWeb are all part of iLife, which comes with your Mac computer. You will be able to edit, organize and share your videos and photos with these programs. When it comes to software, Windows doesn't really give you that much. You might think you are getting a lot of software, but many of these are just free trials, so you better read the fine print. Many of these programs have to be upgraded to use them, after a month or so. If your PC was inexpensive, you can expect this. This could make the price comparison not seem quite as good for the PC when compared to a Mac.

If you use computers at school or at work it's likely that those computers are going to run Windows. If this is the case, choosing a Windows based PC is going to be the smartest thing because it provides you with the opportunity to use the same programs when you are on the computer at home. For one thing, it can be very difficult to share files with people who use PCs if you use a Mac. It's super easy these days to go back and forth between a Mac and a PC because the programs enjoy more compatibility than they ever have before and, thanks to Bootcamp, Mac users can set their computers up to run like Windows based PCs. Of course, if the majority of what you work with are Windows based programs, choosing a Mac probably isn't a productive idea. Even though Macs are more popular today than ever before, most schools, corporations and large organizations still use Windows. When you have to choose between Windows and Mac OSes, these are just a few of the major points that you should take under consideration. If you can't seem to make a final decision, you might try visiting one of the big box computer stores and maybe paying a visit to a nearby Apple store (if there is one in your area). This will allow you to check out Macs and Windows based PCs up close and personally which should help you make your final decision.
